Searcher Life: What This Actually Feels Like
Motion creates emotion.
People ask what the search is like. The short answer? It’s everything all at once.
Some days, I’m riding high after a great founder call—energized by what could be, inspired by what someone has built, excited about the fit. Other days, I walk away from a deal that felt close, knowing it wasn’t quite right. There’s no guaranteed outcome, no formula. Just a steady drumbeat of conversations, decisions, and the discipline to keep going.
The truth is: this takes a lot. Not just time and capital, but emotional stamina. You have to stay optimistic without being naive. You have to learn quickly but act patiently. You have to hear “no” without letting it shake your “yes.”
But it’s also incredibly energizing. I’ve never felt more aligned with what I want to do—or clearer about the kind of business I’m meant to run. Every founder I meet, every deal I dig into, every investor I learn from sharpens the path forward.
It’s hard to describe the mix of independence, accountability, and momentum that comes with this model. But it’s the kind of hard that feels right.
I’m not doing this because it’s easy. I’m doing it because it’s mine.
