Building the Diligence Team

How you approach diligence says a lot about how you’ll operate post-close.

That’s why I’m putting real care into assembling the right partners now—before I need them. When I move into post-LOI diligence, I want to be ready with a trusted team that can work thoughtfully and efficiently, with a clear sense of what matters.

For financial diligence, I’m focused on firms with real-world operating sensibility. I don’t need a 100-page binder—I need clean financials, clear trends, and sharp insight into what the numbers mean for go-forward decisions.

On the legal side, I value pragmatism. I’m working with attorneys who know me and my goals, and who understand the intrinsic value in these kinds of transitions. Ideally, they’ve supported SBA-backed deals before, and bring calm, clarity, and creativity to the table—not just caution.

Commercial diligence may look different from deal to deal. I’ll drive most of it myself, but when it comes to areas like SaaS, specific marketing funnels, or product roadmap, I’ll lean on a trusted cabinet of experts. They help pressure-test assumptions, assess competitive dynamics, and validate customer stickiness. If the company has a meaningful tech stack—whether platform, internal tooling, or custom systems—I’ll also bring in technical diligence to uncover risks, dependencies, and modernization opportunities.

This team is more than a group of vendors—they’re my partners during one of the most pivotal phases of the journey. My job is to lead them: to ask the right questions, make the right calls, and keep things moving.

Because once diligence begins, alignment and decisiveness matter more than ever.
